On first touch, the world of Nokat is to reapprehend the remnants of pop’art supplies and of surrealism : heterogeneous childhood recollections, of old super heroes, of admired figures and the world of kitsch… Then comes the time of exploration and how her pieces burst with new levels of meaning as further readings of the fictional combinations become obvious,
Nokat dispises all that is fixed and compulsary. She calls not to just swallow the raw image using the same and unchanging codes which paralyze and petrify with fear consciousnesses. She also provides the necessary codes to the semiotic analysis of the image and leads the audience to go beyond the first level of interpretation and rethink the stereotypes.
A multitude of retro-fashoned characters, spangled bling bling with a hint of eroticism…the colorful, beaming and playful language of Nokat is just a metaphor barely hiding alienations, disorders, confusions, in short < of modern society >. Overabundance, compulsive behaviours, forbidden delights, submissiveness, perversity… Upon even further examination behind the appearances, the message appears brutal, improper sometimes even licentious. It gets its full strength once discovered and subsequently reasoned.
Nokat feels great pleasure in playing with unrealistic and hidden situations often surprising but stamped with her personality always turned towards others..
